As lives converge and stories unfold within the tight confines of shared spaces, Social identity emerges in the embrace of high-density housing. As a mosaic of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and dreams co-exist amidst the clustered walls, Our aim was to create a sense of ‘home’. This 4 member-family apartment is a crisp, detailed, textured, and timeless contemporary unit with a theme of muted hues marking its subtle subsistence in the community, simultaneously speaking an ingenious design language of its own.
A touch of classical components enhances the required qualities and spatial perceptions are added to this neutral, minimalistic, and simplified backdrop to add some character. The mood and activities inspire each element used in the house and stand as an amalgamation of a space designed for each user separately yet for all of them together.
Upon arrival, the foyer warmly welcomes the residents and guests setting the tone for the rest of the house with custom-made storage and seating catering to both security and everyday needs. The formal living room unfolds itself in muted tones of brown and beige with subtle lighting and warm materials to accentuate the forms and textures.
The open floor plan resulting in a seamless flow between the foyer, living room, and dining area creates a cohesive and welcoming atmosphere. The spatial planning also allows the dining and Living areas to enjoy the views offered by the massive sliding doors running throughout the external wall partially allowing visuals into the kitchen.
The family room is demarcated from the other spaces in the open floor plan by a glass sliding door. The family room is sparse and the interaction of textures and silhouettes without the dominating use of artificial lights, allows the space to function organically with an abundance of natural light.
The Puja room has been designed with minimal shifts in textures and subtle tones of brown to help maintain balance and focus spiritually.
The master bedroom exudes elegance and subtlety, designed to be occupied by the client couple. Completed with wood, the bedroom features an intricate dresser unit, a study, and a headboard which seamlessly integrates into the openness of the space creating a harmonious aesthetic.
The kids’ bedroom breaks the monotony of subtlety as color makes an appearance through accents, furniture, and art. The curvilinear seating makes sure to optimize all the available wall areas in the bedroom. Although whites and browns constitute the undertone of the base palette of the design, it is juxtaposed with wooden accents and pattern-rich fabrics. Flexible furniture provided in the study adds to the quirk of the design.
A simple and classic modular kitchen by Nolte with a Grey color scheme, concrete finishes, and open displays accentuate the elegance and appeal to compliment the overall clean and sunny theme.
While it presents itself with simplicity, the design exudes maximalism and complexity in its details.
